The Canada Dental Benefit is a temporary initiative set up to help low-income families cover the costs of dental care.
Intended for households with an annual income of less than $90,000. This financial assistance aims to make dental care more accessible to low-income families.
Parents or guardians of children under the age of 12, who do not have private dental insurance, are eligible for this benefit.

If an eligible child’s dental expenses are covered entirely by another government program at no cost to you, those services are not covered by this benefit. Please, be sure to check your child’s eligibility for other programs before submitting your application.
You may be eligible for the new Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). If you are over 70, you should have received a letter by March 2024 with instructions on how to apply. If you are between 65 and 69 years old, you can submit your application online from May 2024.
The Temporary Canada Dental Benefit is divided into two periods. Eligibility criteria vary depending on the period of time your child receives dental care. Be sure to check whether you qualify for each child concerned before applying. This program is for children’s first dental visit.

The CRA calculates the amount of your benefit based on your adjusted net family income. The amount of the benefit for each eligible child remains constant and is not influenced by your dental expenses.

Adjusted family net income: Less than $70,000
Full custody amount: $650
Shared custody amount: $325
Adjusted family net income: Between $70,000 and $79,999
Full custody amount: $390
Shared custody amount: $195
Adjusted family net income: Between $80,000 and $89,999
Full custody amount: $260
Shared custody amount: $130
Adjusted family net income: $90,000 or more
Full custody amount: Not eligible
Shared custody amount: Not eligible

You can contact the CRA call center at 1 800 959-8281. Parents and guardians will be required to provide information to confirm their identity.
Submit your request to the CRA. Opting to submit online through My CRA Account is the quickest method to receive your payment.
The deadline to submit an application is Sunday June 30, 2024.
